The cylinders have a highly porous structure, which gives a large surface area for the bacteria that turn ammonia into nitrite and then nitrate, and their shape keeps oxygen-rich water flowing through the media.

Key features

Porous ceramic, with surface inside the pores for nitrifying bacteria (the bacteria that process ammonia) as well as on the outside.

Loose fill that packs into canister baskets, media bags, sumps (a filter tank below the aquarium) and hang-on filters.

Long-lasting, rinsed rather than replaced on a schedule, so the bacteria colony stays with the tank.

Specifications

Pack: 500 g

Form: ceramic cylinders

Stage: biological filtration

Water type: freshwater and marine

Bioscape code: BIS196

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for any filter with a media basket or chamber, and for a media bag dropped into a sump.
