Here the water is clear, cool, and hard with an alkaline pH — unusual for a small \"rasbora-type\" fish. Despite the common name it is not a true rasbora and carries no scales, hence the alternative name \"naked microrasbora\".\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eAppearance\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA slender, scaleless little cyprinid. Breeding males are the showpiece: a metallic silvery-blue body with a glowing red snout and red flashes in the tail. Stable water quality and good filtration matter; it is not fond of warm, soft, acidic conditions.
