Their soft discs sit low and wide across the substrate, glowing in shades of green, orange, red and mixed rainbow hues, and they're widely regarded as one of the easiest, most rewarding corals for anyone starting a reef tank.

Natural Habitat

Both genera are native to shaded portions of Indo-Pacific and Caribbean reefs, colonising rubble fields, slopes and rock faces wherever light is subdued and current is gentle. They tend to do best in water that isn't overly nutrient-poor, which is exactly why they translate so easily into home aquaria: a dim, calm corner of the tank recreates their reef environment with little fuss.

Appearance

AA13 will show the classic mushroom coral silhouette: a fleshy disc anchored to the rock beneath it. Ricordea individuals are dotted with small, glossy, bubble-like projections, while Rhodactis tends to spread broader and can appear textured, almost fuzzy, across its surface. Under blue aquarium lighting these discs fluoresce in green, orange, red, blue and rainbow tones. A specimen in good health stays fully open and clings firmly to its base rock.

https://nicksaquariumoceanariumterrarium.com.au/products/corallimorphs-rock-aa13-ricordea-rhodactis-sp
