The mechanical pre-filter runs on a separate, more frequent 14-day cycle and is a different consumable to this one.

Common questions

How do I know when it needs changing?

Watch water clarity rather than the calendar alone — if clarity drops before the 15–30 day mark, change it early; the G6's flow indicator will also flag reduced flow if an earlier stage needs attention.

Can I use this in a G3?

No — the G3 takes its own, smaller chemical cartridge (Fluval A425); the two aren't interchangeable.

What does it actually remove?

Granulated chemical media of this type targets general water polishing and clarity rather than one specific contaminant — Fluval also sells dedicated ammonia, nitrate and phosphate cartridges for the G-Series if you need targeted removal.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Fluval's standard consumer guarantee in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
