Reaching around 45 cm, it grazes constantly and needs plenty of open water. Its dark body, bright caudal ring and orange eye sockets make it a handsome centrepiece for the experienced keeper with a big tank.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eNatural Habitat\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eFound across the Indo-West Pacific, on shallow lagoon and outer-reef zones where adults often swim in schools, sometimes mixed with other surgeonfish, grazing algae from the reef.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eAppearance\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eA dark brown, oval-bodied tang with a diffuse orange-brown wash below the pectoral fin, a bright orange caudal-spine socket, a white band at the base of the tail and orange blotches before and behind the eye.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eTemperament and Compatibility\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eSemi-aggressive, especially toward other tangs and its own kind. In a spacious tank it coexists with many robust fish.
