It presents as a single, large, jewel-like polyp with striking red, orange and rainbow colouration.

Appearance

The polyp itself is large, flat and disc-shaped (occasionally developing extra mouths with age) and swells into a soft, fleshy dome under favourable conditions. Colour is where AA12 shines: deep reds, oranges and greens blending into multi-tone "rainbow" and "bloodshot" patterns. A full, even inflation is what you want to see; a gaping mouth suggests AA12 isn't settled.

Natural Habitat

Homophyllia australis occurs solitarily on lower slopes, ledges and soft bottoms of reefs across southern and eastern Australia, in low light and gentle flow. Give AA12 the same conditions at home: low in the tank, resting on sand or a shaded ledge, gentle water movement only, and no bright, high-flow spots.

https://nicksaquariumoceanariumterrarium.com.au/products/scolymia-australis-aa12-homophyllia-australis
