Bioscape 450L/h Hanging Filter Replacement Foam (6 Pack)

The stage that stops your tank looking cloudy in the first place. This six-pack of foam pads is the mechanical-stage media for the Bioscape Tropic Easy Clean 100 Hang-On Filter (450 L/h, BIS532) – the coarse first catch that pulls out floating debris and mulm before it ever reaches the carbon or bio-ball stages behind it.

Key features
  • Open-cell foam – catches particulate debris while still passing enough flow to keep turnover up.
  • Doubles as extra biological area – once established, a foam pad also carries some of its own bacteria colony.
  • Six-pack – the largest pack of the three media types here, because mechanical media is the one you'll change most often.
  • Direct fit – sized for the Easy Clean 100's modular tray, no cutting required.
What it fits

Fits the mechanical stage of the Bioscape Tropic Easy Clean 100 Hang-On Filter, 450 L/h (model BIS532), suited to aquariums of roughly 72–110 L. It does not fit Bioscape's other hang-on filter models sold at different flow rates.

Which media does my Easy Clean 100 need?
Stage Media Job Typical service pattern
Mechanical Foam pad (this product) Traps floating debris and mulm Rinse regularly; replace when it stops springing back
Chemical Carbon cartridge Pulls out discolouration and odours Replace on a fixed cycle – carbon stops absorbing once exhausted
Biological Bio balls Hosts bacteria that process ammonia and nitrite Rinse gently in old tank water; replace only when visibly breaking down
Care and replacement

Because it's the first thing dirty water hits, the foam pad is the stage you'll service most often. Rinse it in old tank water whenever flow through the filter visibly slows – weekly is a reasonable starting point in a normally stocked tank, more often in a heavily stocked one. Replace it outright once it's lost its spring, gone thin, or started shedding pieces, rather than continuing to rinse a pad that's falling apart.

Suitable for

Freshwater and marine tanks running the Bioscape Tropic Easy Clean 100 Hang-On Filter. Six pads in the pack means most tanks are covered for a year or more of routine changes.

Common questions

How often should I rinse the foam versus replace it?

Rinse in old tank water at every filter clean; replace outright once the foam has gone thin, lost its spring, or is shedding pieces into the water.

Can I rinse it in tap water?

Avoid it where possible – tap water's chlorine or chloramine kills the bacteria that colonise the foam over time. Old tank water is the safer choice.

Why is this pack bigger than the carbon or bio ball packs?

Mechanical media clogs fastest because it catches everything first, so it needs replacing more often – the six-pack reflects that.
