Basslets are small, hardy reef fish that hold a territory in the rockwork and stay out of everyone's way. The blackcap basslet carries a deep purple body under a black cap, a colour combination that holds up under blue reef lighting better than almost anything else.

They stay around ten centimetres, are entirely reef safe, and accept prepared foods readily. Give them a rockscape with caves and overhangs, since they orient to the rock rather than swimming in open water, and expect them to be shy for the first few days.

Keep one per tank unless you have a large system, as they will defend a cave against their own kind. See shipping and delivery.
