Marine salt mix is what turns RO/DI water into seawater. It carries not just sodium chloride but the calcium, magnesium, carbonate and trace elements a reef needs, which is why table salt or pool salt has no place in an aquarium.
We stock Red Sea and Aqua Medic mixes in sizes from small bags up to buckets for larger systems. The higher specification blends carry elevated calcium, alkalinity and magnesium, which suits tanks growing stony coral hard, while standard mixes match natural seawater levels and suit fish only and soft coral systems.
Mix salt in a separate container with a pump, bring it to tank temperature and let it clear before use, rather than adding salt directly to a running tank.
