Return & Water Pumps

The return pump is the heart of a sump based marine system. It sits in the last chamber of the sump and pushes water back up to the display, setting the turnover rate for the whole tank.

We stock controllable DC pumps from EcoTech Marine, Red Sea and Aqua Illumination, which let you dial the flow rate up or down and run feed modes, along with fixed speed pumps and general purpose utility pumps for water changes and mixing salt.

Match the pump to the head height, meaning the vertical distance it has to lift water, not just the tank volume. A pump rated at a high flow on paper delivers far less once it is pushing water up a metre and a half of return pipe.
