Fertilisers and supplements for planted freshwater tanks, from Seachem and AquaVitro. Liquid fertilisers dose the water column for stem plants and floating species, while root tabs go into the substrate for heavy root feeders such as sword plants and cryptocoryne.

Plants need macronutrients, meaning nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, plus iron and trace elements. Deficiency shows in the leaves, so yellowing between the veins usually points to iron, while holes in older leaves often point to potassium.

Fertiliser, light and carbon dioxide work as a set. Adding more of one while another is short mostly feeds algae, so lift them together.
