Filter Media

The consumable side of filtration. Biological media such as ceramic noodles, sintered glass and MarinePure blocks gives beneficial bacteria a home so ammonia and nitrite stay at zero. Mechanical media, meaning filter wool, sponges and socks, traps particles before they dissolve. Chemical media, including activated carbon, phosphate removing resin and nitrate reducing pads, targets what the other two cannot catch.

Media from Bioscape, Seachem, Fluval, Red Sea, Aqua Medic and API is stocked in bulk and cartridge form. Carbon and resins are consumables and need replacing on a schedule rather than rinsing and reusing, while biological media is left alone once it is colonised.
