Scorpionfish are masters of sitting still. They rely on camouflage rather than speed, wedging into the rockwork and waiting, which makes them fascinating in a quiet tank and easy to overlook in a busy one. We stock the yellow leaf scorpionfish, green coral scorpionfish and spotted coral croucher.

The leaf scorpionfish in particular rocks gently with the flow, mimicking a piece of drifting leaf litter.

They are small, but they will take any fish or shrimp that fits in the mouth, so choose tank mates on size rather than speed. All members of this group carry venomous dorsal spines. A sting is painful and needs medical attention, so move them with a container rather than a net. This information is general in nature.
