Boxfish swim by fluttering their fins while the rigid body stays still, which gives them a hovering, deliberate movement unlike anything else in a marine tank. We stock the yellow boxfish, blue boxfish and spotted boxfish.

There is one thing every keeper needs to know before buying. Boxfish can release a toxin when severely stressed or when they die, and in a closed aquarium that can affect every fish in the system. They are best kept in a species tank or with calm, non aggressive tank mates, acclimated carefully, and never transported with other fish.

They are not reef safe and will pick at invertebrates. This information is general in nature; contact the store if you are unsure whether your setup suits one.
