Aqua Ultraviolet has designed and assembled UV sterilisers in California for more than forty years. A UV steriliser passes water past an ultraviolet lamp housed in a quartz sleeve, and the light damages the free floating algae, bacteria and parasites drifting through, which is why it clears green water and cuts the spread of ich without adding anything to the water. We stock the Twist series in 25 and 57 watt, the Advantage 8 watt in barb and hanger versions, and the parts that keep them running: lamps in every wattage, quartz sleeves and caps, transformers, mounting clips and barb and union fittings.
Lamps lose output well before they go dark, so replace them on the maker's schedule of about 14 months, and slow the flow if you want the unit to kill parasites rather than only algae.
