Filtration

Filters for every size of freshwater tank. Canister filters from Fluval and Bioscape suit larger and heavily stocked tanks, internal and hang on filters suit smaller setups, and sponge filters driven by an air pump are the standard choice for breeding tanks, fry and shrimp because they cannot suck small livestock in.

Also stocked are Aqua Ultraviolet sterilisers, which pass water past a UV lamp to clear green water blooms and reduce waterborne pathogens.

Whatever you choose, the filter is only as good as the bacteria living in it. When cleaning, rinse media in tank water rather than under the tap, since chlorine will kill the bacterial colony you have spent weeks building.
