Bioscape Phosphate Extraction Pad 25 x 45cm
A cut-to-fit pad that strips phosphate from your filter's water flow. Bioscape's Phosphate Extraction Pad is a 25 x 45 cm poly-fibre sheet impregnated with a phosphate-adsorbing resin, sized to be trimmed to fit power filters, trickle filters, wet/dry filters, powerheads, canister filters and pond filters.
Key features
- Cut-to-fit sheet — trim it to the exact shape of your filter's media tray rather than being limited to a fixed cartridge size.
- Targets phosphate — adsorbs the phosphate that builds up from decaying food and waste, the nutrient behind most nuisance algae.
- Fresh and marine safe — the same pad works across both water types.

Will it fit my filter?
Because it's a full sheet rather than a pre-cut cartridge, it fits almost any filter that takes a media pad or sheet — power filters, trickle filters, wet/dry sumps, powerhead pre-filters, canister filters and pond filters. Trim it to the shape of your existing media tray or cartridge frame.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater and marine aquariums running elevated or tested phosphate levels. Not a substitute for regular water changes and feeding control — like any phosphate media, it treats a symptom rather than the underlying nutrient load.
Care and maintenance
Bioscape doesn't publish a fixed replacement interval for this pad. Test your phosphate level periodically and replace the section in use once readings start climbing again — heavily stocked or overfed tanks will exhaust it faster than lightly stocked ones.
Warranty and delivery
Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Can I cut it into multiple pieces and use them over time?
Yes — that's the point of a sheet over a pre-cut cartridge. Cut off what you need now and store the rest in a sealed bag for later.
How do I know when to replace the pad?
Test your phosphate level. Once it starts climbing again, the section in use has adsorbed as much as it can and it's time to cut a fresh piece.
Is it reef safe?
Bioscape markets this pad for both freshwater and marine use, including reef systems dealing with elevated phosphate.
Does it work in a pond filter?
Yes — Bioscape lists pond filters alongside aquarium canister, power, trickle and wet/dry filters as suited to this pad.
