The largest freshwater fish range we carry, and the family that keeps more people in the hobby than any other. Our African side covers Malawi mbuna and haps, Aulonocara peacocks, and Tanganyikan species including Julidochromis, Altolamprologus calvus and brichardi. The American side runs from oscars and Central American cichlids through to discus, angelfish, rams and a deep range of Apistogramma.

Cichlids are not one fish with one set of needs. Malawi species want hard, alkaline water, heavy rockwork and enough numbers to spread aggression around. South American dwarfs such as apistogramma and rams want soft, warm, acidic water, cover and quiet tank mates. Mixing the two rarely ends well.

Sexed pairs and colour morphs are listed individually where available. See shipping and delivery for live fish terms, dispatch days and the rules for Western Australia and Tasmania.
