Both common names of the adhesive anemone (Cryptodendrum adhaesivum) are earned. Its flat disc with a beaded edge looks like a pizza, and its short branched tentacles are extremely sticky, so never try to peel one off a rock. It reaches about 30 centimetres, anchors its foot in sand or a rock hollow, and wants moderate to strong lighting, moderate flow and a small meaty feed each week. Only one clownfish, Clark's anemonefish, is recorded hosting in it, so treat it as a display animal, and keep other corals clear of the stinging disc.
