The gear that makes weekly maintenance quick enough that it actually gets done. Algae magnets and scrapers from Flipper and Mag Float clean glass and acrylic without scratching, gravel vacuums and siphons handle water changes, and buckets, hoses, nets, brushes and towels cover the rest.
Also stocked are replacement filter socks, tubing brushes and the fine tools for cleaning pump wet sides and impellers, which is where flow quietly disappears to as calcium builds up.
Use separate equipment for marine and freshwater tanks, and never use a bucket that has held detergent. Even a trace of soap residue is enough to cause a problem in a reef tank.
