The easiest plants in the hobby, and the ones to start with if you have never grown anything underwater. Anubias, java fern, bucephalandra and mosses are epiphytes, meaning they grow attached to wood and rock rather than rooted in substrate.

Our range covers anubias barteri, nana, nana petite, coffeefolia and afzelii, java fern in standard, Philippine, crested and Windelov forms, java moss, Christmas moss, flame moss, riccia and fissidens.

There is one rule that decides whether these plants live or die. The rhizome, the thick horizontal stem the leaves grow from, must never be buried. Tie or glue the plant to wood or rock and leave the rhizome exposed, and it will grow in low light with no added carbon dioxide and very little attention. Bury it and the plant rots.
