Damselfish

Damselfish

Damselfish are as tough as marine fish get. They handle a wide range of conditions, they eat anything offered, and they hold their colour in any lighting, which is why blue devil and yellowtail damsels are on almost every list of first marine fish.

We stock blue devil, yellowtail, lemon, humbug, South Seas devil, Bengal sergeant and yellowtail demoiselle.

The one thing to plan for is temperament. Damselfish become territorial as they mature and will harass fish added after them, so put them in last rather than first, and give them enough rockwork that each can hold a patch of its own. They are reef safe and will not trouble corals.
