The long horned cowfish is one of the most characterful fish in the shop, a bright yellow box with horns above the eyes that hovers on fluttering fins and follows its keeper around the room.

It is a member of the boxfish family and carries the same warning. Cowfish can release a toxin when severely stressed or when they die, which in a closed system can affect every fish in the tank. They should be kept with calm tank mates, acclimated gently, and never bagged with other fish.

They are not reef safe and will pick at invertebrates, and they grow considerably larger than the juvenile size usually offered. Talk to us before ordering if you are unsure whether your setup suits one.
