Few animals in the hobby stop a room like a magnificent anemone (Heteractis magnifica). In nature it sits on exposed rock in bright, moving water, and it expects the same in a tank: the most intense lighting you can give it, strong flow and a large, mature system, since the disc is usually 20 to 50 centimetres across and can reach a metre. It settles high on the rockwork, and one unhappy with its light or flow will walk the tank until it finds better, so guard pump intakes. Ocellaris, percula and skunk clownfish host in it, and the column comes in blue, green, red or purple.

This is not a first anemone; reserve it for a reef that has run stable for a year. Air freight orders are covered by our Arrive Alive Guarantee, and our delivery information sets out every shipping option plus the Western Australia and Tasmania rules.
