Chromis are the shoaling fish most reef tanks start with. They hang in the open water above the rockwork, they are hardy, they are peaceful with almost everything, and a group of them makes a tank look alive in a way a single fish cannot.

We stock green chromis, the classic choice, along with Ambon, Barrier Reef, blackbar, half and half and Vanderbilt's chromis.

Buy them in odd numbered groups of five or more. A shoal kept in small numbers tends to reduce itself over time as one fish becomes dominant, whereas a proper group spreads the pressure and settles. They are reef safe and will not touch corals or invertebrates.
