Bioscape Tropic Hand Pressure Gravel Cleaner 30 - 60cm

Clean gravel and drain water for a change in one pass, no mouth-siphoning. The Bioscape Tropic Hand Pressure Gravel Cleaner uses a squeeze-bulb primer to start the siphon, then a 360° rotating head and a built-in strainer let you work through the substrate while the tank drains — sized for aquariums roughly 30 to 60 cm long.

Key features
  • Bulb-primed siphon — a hand-pressure bulb starts the flow, no mouth-siphoning to get water moving.
  • Adjustable flow — a spin wheel on the handle controls how fast water and debris move through the tube.
  • Extendable inlet tube — reaches further into the tank without repositioning the whole unit as often.
  • Built-in strainer — keeps gravel and larger debris out of the flow path so it doesn't clog mid-clean.
  • 360° rotating suction head — works the substrate from any angle without twisting your wrist or the hose.

Will it fit my tank?

Sized for aquariums roughly 30 to 60 cm long. On a tank near the top of that range, the extendable inlet tube helps you reach the far corners without moving the whole unit constantly; on a tank near the bottom of the range, short strokes near the front glass are usually enough.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for routine gravel cleaning and partial water changes on freshwater and marine aquariums in the 30–60 cm range. Not designed as a full-tank drain-and-refill tool for large systems — for bigger tanks, a standard gravity siphon with a longer hose and a bucket or tap connection is the more practical option.

Care and maintenance

Rinse the strainer after use to clear any trapped debris before it dries and blocks flow on the next clean. Vacuum a different third of the substrate at each water change rather than the whole bed at once — a full-tank gravel clean in one go disturbs more beneficial bacteria than is ideal.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Bioscape's manufacturer warranty in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Common questions

Do I need to start the siphon with my mouth?

No — the hand-pressure bulb primes the siphon, so there's no mouth-siphoning involved.

Can I control how fast it drains?

Yes — the spin wheel on the handle adjusts flow, so you can slow down over delicate substrate or shrimp-heavy areas.

Will it work in a marine tank?

Yes, it's suitable for both freshwater and marine use.

Does it come with a bucket or tap fitting?

Bioscape doesn't publish bucket or tap-fitting details for this model — check the unit's hose end against your bucket or drain setup before you rely on a specific fitting.
