Flipper Cleaner Pico 2.0
A magnetic cleaner sized for tanks where a full-size Flipper won't fit. The Flipper Cleaner Pico 2.0 is a 2-in-1 magnetic algae cleaner built for nano and pico aquariums up to about 5.5 gallons (21 L) - goldfish bowls, betta tanks and small planted or reef setups. One magnetic half sits inside the tank, the other tracks it from outside, and a quick flip of the handle switches the tool between a scraper for stubborn algae and a scrubber for general cleanup, without you putting a hand in the water.
Key features
- Works through glass or acrylic up to 6 mm (1/4 in) - the figure to check before buying. This is a small-tank tool; it is not rated for standard 8-12 mm display glass.
- 2-in-1 flip design - rotate the handle to switch between the scraper side, for loosening stubborn algae, and the scrubber side, for wiping it away once it's loosened.
- Sized for nano and pico tanks - the scraper head is only slightly larger than a coin and the scrubber pad about an inch square, small enough to work in tight nano and pico footprints without knocking over decor.
- Strong rare-earth magnets - Flipper describes the magnetic hold as requiring real effort to pull the two halves apart, so the cleaning head tracks reliably even in a small tank.
- Glass and acrylic safe - suits both tank materials at the rated thickness, so it isn't limited to glass-only setups.
- Sinks rather than floats - the tool goes to the bottom of the tank if the magnetic halves separate, rather than bobbing on the surface, so it's easy to find and retrieve.

Which Flipper cleaner do I need?
| Model | Max glass/acrylic | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Flipper Cleaner Pico 2.0 (this listing) | 6 mm | Nano and pico tanks up to about 5.5 gallons, betta and goldfish bowls |
| Flipper Nano Float | 6 mm | Small tanks where a floating (rather than sinking) cleaner is preferred |
| Flipper Edge 12mm | 12 mm | Standard glass aquariums |
| Flipper Max Float | 19 mm | Large display tanks with thick glass |
Measure your glass or acrylic before ordering. A cleaner rated below your tank wall thickness won't hold together through the glass, and buying past what you need adds cost and bulk for no benefit in a small footprint.
What's included
The Flipper Cleaner Pico 2.0 magnetic cleaner, with its scraper and scrubber sides built into the one flip head.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: nano and pico aquariums, betta tanks, goldfish bowls, and any small freshwater or marine setup with glass or acrylic up to 6 mm thick.
Not suitable for: standard-size display aquariums with glass over 6 mm - step up to the Flipper Edge 12mm or a Max model instead. It's a cleaning tool, not a viewer, so it won't magnify or light up what you're looking at.
Care and maintenance
Rinse both magnetic halves after use to stop algae and mineral deposits building up on the pads, and check the scraper and scrubber faces periodically for embedded grit that could mark acrylic. Because the tool sinks, retrieve it by hand or with a net if the halves ever separate mid-clean rather than waiting for it to surface.
Goes well with
- Flipper DeepSee Clear Viewer with 4in Lens - check the glass for missed spots after cleaning with a magnified close-up view.
Warranty and delivery
Flipper does not publish a separate warranty term for the Pico 2.0 beyond its general product warranty; your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply regardless. Ships as standard freight.
Common questions
What's the maximum glass thickness this works through?
6 mm (1/4 in). It's built for nano and pico tank walls specifically - if your tank is a standard 8-12 mm glass aquarium, the Flipper Edge 12mm is the right size instead.
Does it work on acrylic as well as glass?
Yes, up to the same 6 mm rating.
Does it float if it comes off the glass?
No - the Pico 2.0 sinks. If the magnetic halves separate, look for it on the substrate rather than the surface.
How does the 2-in-1 flip work?
The head has a scraper face for loosening stubborn algae and a scrubber face for wiping it away. Rotating the handle switches which face is presented to the glass, so you don't need two separate tools.
Is it strong enough to use in a betta or goldfish bowl?
Yes - it's sized specifically for nano and pico tanks up to roughly 5.5 gallons, which covers most betta and goldfish bowl setups.
Will the magnet be too strong and stress small fish?
The magnetic pull is between the two halves of the tool, not something fish come into contact with. As with any magnetic cleaner, avoid running it directly over resting fish or fry out of general caution, but the magnet itself poses no direct handling risk to the animals.
