Feeds the plants, not the algae, with a chlorella-based blend built for planted tanks. aquavitro envy is a carbohydrate, vitamin, amino acid and polyunsaturated fatty acid supplement built around chlorella, a freshwater algae naturally rich in the B-vitamin complex, enzymes and minerals. It's dosed alongside your regular fertiliser to support colour and growth rather than replace macro and micro nutrient dosing.

Key features
  • Chlorella base - a whole-algae source of B-vitamins, amino acids and trace minerals rather than a single isolated nutrient.
  • Full vitamin and amino acid panel - see the guaranteed analysis below for the complete published breakdown.
  • Complements, not replaces, your fertiliser - dosed alongside a macro/micro programme such as aquavitro synthesis, not instead of it.
  • Costs a fraction of a cent per litre dosed - see Cost per litre below.

Dosage and directions

Use 5 mL for every 110 L (30 US gallons) of water, three times a week, or as required to maintain plant growth. Shake before use. There's no single-dose "job done" point the way there is with a water conditioner - envy is dosed continuously as part of your ongoing planted-tank routine.

Cost per litre

Over the life of one bottle, envy costs under 1c per litre of tank water dosed, on either size:

Size Price Litres dosed over the bottle's life Cost per litre
150 mL $19.95 3,300 L (30 doses x 110 L) Under 1c per litre
350 mL $49.95 7,700 L (70 doses x 110 L) Under 1c per litre

Both sizes come out to a fraction of a cent per litre dosed - the 150 mL is fractionally cheaper of the two per litre, so buy the 350 mL for fewer bottle changes, not for a lower running cost.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for: freshwater planted aquariums running a full fertilising programme, and shrimp tanks at the trace levels envy is dosed at.

Not suitable for: reef and marine systems - the manufacturer does not recommend envy for reef tanks.

Care and maintenance

No storage requirements beyond keeping the bottle sealed and at room temperature. Shake before each dose, since the chlorella base can settle.

Common questions

Does envy replace my regular fertiliser?

No. It's a vitamin, amino acid and fatty acid supplement built on a chlorella base, dosed alongside a macro and micro-nutrient fertiliser such as aquavitro synthesis, not instead of one.

How often do I dose it?

5 mL per 110 L, three times a week, or as needed to maintain plant growth. Shake the bottle before each dose.

Is it safe for shrimp?

Seachem states envy is dosed at trace levels safe for planted tanks and shrimp, though it does contain trace copper as part of the chlorella base.

Which size should I buy?

Work it out from your dosing frequency: at 5 mL three times a week, a 150 mL bottle lasts about ten weeks and a 350 mL bottle about twenty-three. Per litre dosed the two sizes cost about the same fraction of a cent, so buy the 350 mL mainly to cut down how often you're re-ordering, not for a lower running cost.
