Wool and carbon in one drop-in cartridge, sized for the larger hang-on filters. This Bioscape Carbon/Wool Cartridge combines mechanical wool, which traps floating waste and debris, with activated carbon, which pulls out odour, discolouration and dissolved toxins. It's sold as a two-pack and fits the Hang On Power Filter Medium 550, Large 750 and X-Large 1000 (BIS500, BIS501, BIS502) – not the Small 350, which takes its own smaller cartridge.

Care and maintenance
Bioscape doesn't publish a fixed replacement interval. Replace it once flow noticeably slows or the wool has visibly darkened, rather than on a fixed calendar. Avoid changing the cartridge on the same day as a large gravel clean, so the tank's biological filtration – carried mostly by the bio screen, not this cartridge – doesn't take two hits at once.

No. The Small 350 takes its own, smaller cartridge – this pack is sized for the Medium 550, Large 750 and X-Large 1000 only.
How often should I change it?
Bioscape doesn't state a fixed interval. Watch for reduced flow or a darkened, saturated look to the wool and carbon, and change it at that point rather than on a set schedule.
Does this cartridge handle biological filtration too?
No – it's wool and carbon only, for mechanical and chemical filtration. Biological filtration happens on the separate bio screen in the same housing.
