Which heater do I need?
| Canister filter model | Heater wattage | Heater part |
|---|---|---|
| 1050 L/h (BIS540) | 200 W | BIS553 – this listing |
| 1620 L/h (BIS541) | 200 W | BIS553 – this listing |
| 2000 L/h (BIS542) | 300 W | BIS554 |
Check the flow rate printed on your canister filter's housing or its original box before ordering – fitting the wrong wattage heater to a larger canister will leave it under-heated on a big, cold tank.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: the Bioscape PRO Easy Clean Canister Filter, 1050 L/h and 1620 L/h models.
Not suitable for: the 2000 L/h Bioscape PRO canister filter, which uses the 300 W heater (BIS554), or any other brand's canister filter.
Safety
This is a mains-powered heating element for use only inside the Bioscape PRO Easy Clean canister it's designed for – do not run it outside the filter housing or submerged loose in the aquarium. Isolate power before opening the canister to fit it, and let the unit cool fully first if it has just been running.
Warranty and delivery
Manufacturer warranty applies to this spare part in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law; contact us with your order details if it arrives faulty. Standard freight applies.
Common questions
How do I know if the heater has failed rather than the thermostat or the whole unit?
If the tank temperature is drifting and the canister is otherwise running normally – flow is fine, no leaks – the heating element is the most likely culprit, and the part this listing replaces.
Does this fit the 2000 L/h canister filter?
No. The 2000 L/h model uses a 300 W heater (BIS554) – this 200 W element is sized for the 1050 L/h and 1620 L/h canisters only.
Do I need any special tools to fit it?
Follow the canister filter's own manual for opening the housing and accessing the heater chamber – this part is a factory-spec replacement, not a generic heater, so no rewiring outside the housing is required.
Can I use this heater on its own, outside the canister?
No – it isn't a standalone submersible heater. It's built to sit inside the Bioscape PRO Easy Clean canister's heater chamber and run through the canister's own controls.
