Clips straight onto the tank rim, so nano and small aquariums get plant-friendly light without a full hood or fixture. The Bioscape LED Clip-on Lamp mounts via a spring clip and swings clear of the tank for maintenance, running a 6500K daylight spectrum suited to viewing and plant growth in small aquariums.

Key features
  • 6500K daylight spectrum — a white light spectrum suited to both plant growth and natural-looking viewing.
  • Clips on, swings away — mounts to the rim with a clip and swings out of the way, so filter and water changes don't mean removing the light.
  • Two finishes — a 10W black-bodied lamp and a 9W stainless steel-bodied lamp, both running the same 6500K spectrum.
Specifications
Variant Wattage Colour temperature Body finish Weight
10W 10W 6500K Black 0.53kg
9W Stainless Steel 9W 6500K Stainless steel 0.8kg
Which one do I need?

Both run the same 6500K spectrum and clip-and-swing mounting, so the choice comes down to wattage and finish. The 9W stainless steel version draws slightly less power and suits a tank where the fixture itself will be visible and a metal finish is wanted; the 10W black version is the lower-cost option where body colour doesn't matter. Bioscape hasn't published a PAR or lux figure for either wattage, so the difference in actual plant growth performance between the two isn't quantified.

Will it fit my tank?

Designed for nano and small aquariums. Bioscape hasn't published a maximum glass or rim thickness for the clip, so if your tank has an unusually thick rim, check the clip opening against it before ordering, or contact us to confirm.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for nano and small planted or viewing aquariums where a full hood isn't wanted. Not intended as the primary light source for larger or deeper display tanks — Bioscape markets this specifically for small tank use.

Running costs and noise

Both run silently, with no fan. At a typical 8 hours a day, the 10W version uses around 29 kWh a year and the 9W version around 26 kWh a year — roughly $9 and $8 a year respectively at 30c/kWh. Bioscape hasn't published the lamp's operating voltage; check the plug pack or packaging for AU electrical ratings.

Warranty and delivery

Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Common questions

Can I remove it without unclipping the whole lamp?

Yes — it swings out of the way on its mount, so you don't need to unclip it for routine maintenance.

What's the difference between the two versions?

Wattage, 10W versus 9W, and body finish, black versus stainless steel; both run the same 6500K spectrum.

Will it grow plants or is it just for viewing?

Bioscape markets it for both plant growth and viewing, though no PAR figure is published to confirm intensity at the plant bed.

Does it come with a stand or hood?

No — it's a clip-on fixture that mounts directly to the aquarium rim.
