Bioscape Replace Canister Seal Ring
The genuine lid seal ring for Bioscape PRO canister filters. Fits the three PRO canister models – BIS540 (1050 L/h), BIS541 (1620 L/h) and BIS542 (2000 L/h) – and restores a watertight seal between the canister body and the lid where the original ring has hardened, compressed or started to weep.
Key features
- Model-specific fit – sized to the exact lid diameter of the 1050 L, 1620 L and 2000 L PRO canisters, ordered by selecting the matching variant.
- Restores the priming seal – a compressed or hardened O-ring is the most common cause of a canister filter that won't hold prime or weeps at the lid joint.
- Genuine Bioscape part – matched to factory tolerances rather than a generic O-ring substitute.
- Cheap insurance – replacing the seal costs a fraction of a new canister and is a five-minute job.
Specifications and which one do I need?
| Fits | Filter model | Rated flow | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bioscape PRO Canister Filter 1050 L/h | BIS540 | 1050 L/h | BIS569 |
| Bioscape PRO Canister Filter 1620 L/h | BIS541 | 1620 L/h | BIS570 |
| Bioscape PRO Canister Filter 2000 L/h | BIS542 | 2000 L/h | BIS571 |
Check the flow rate printed on your canister's body or the model sticker before ordering – the three PRO canisters are similar in shape and the seal rings are not interchangeable between sizes.
Fitting
Remove the old ring from its groove in the canister rim, wipe the groove and the new ring clean of any grit, and seat the new ring evenly before closing and latching the lid. A seal that looks slightly stretched or has a visible flat spot where it's been compressed under the lid clips is the usual sign it's due for replacement, well before a leak actually appears.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for the Bioscape PRO canister filter range (BIS540, BIS541, BIS542) only, in the variant matching your specific model. Not suitable for the older Bioscape Tropic canister filters or the Stainless Steel canister range, which use different lid and seal designs.
Warranty and delivery
Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships by standard parcel post.
Common questions
How do I know which size I need?
Match the flow rate on your canister's body or model sticker – 1050 L/h, 1620 L/h or 2000 L/h – to the corresponding BIS540/541/542 model, then choose that variant.
What are the signs the seal needs replacing?
A canister that won't hold prime, a slow weep at the lid joint after startup, or a ring that looks flattened, cracked or has lost its spring when you remove it are all signs it's time to replace it.
Do I need to replace the impeller at the same time?
Not necessarily. A weeping lid and a noisy or weak-flowing motor are usually separate problems – the seal ring fixes the lid joint, while a worn impeller is a separate spare part.
Is this a genuine Bioscape part or a generic O-ring?
It's a genuine Bioscape replacement, sized to the PRO canister range's factory tolerances rather than a generic aftermarket O-ring.
