Bioscape Super Bio-Foam Replacement Foam BF-4
This is the BF-4 size replacement foam for the Bioscape Super Bio-Foam Filter, fitting the BF-4 unit only – not the Baby, BF-1, BF-2 or Jumbo sizes. The BF-4 filter is rated for aquariums up to 380 litres. This sleeve fits over the filter's centre riser tube and replaces the original foam once it's worn out, torn, or no longer clearing the water.

Which one do I need?
The Bioscape Super Bio-Foam Filter range has five sizes, each with its own non-interchangeable foam: Baby (~40L), BF-1 (~100L), BF-2 (~200L), BF-4 (~380L – this one) and Jumbo (~680L). If your filter is a Baby, BF-1, BF-2 or Jumbo, this foam will not fit – check the size marked on your filter, or measure the old foam against the ~10.5cm diameter above, before ordering.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the foam in tank water (not tap water) at every water change to protect the bacteria colonising it. Replace it once it no longer compresses and springs back, is torn, or has compacted enough to visibly slow water flow. No manufacturer replacement interval is published for this foam, so go by condition rather than a fixed timeframe.

Common questions
How do I know if I need the BF-4 size?
Check the size marked on your filter, or measure the existing foam – the BF-4 sleeve is roughly 10.5cm in diameter, and the filter is rated for tanks up to around 380 litres, between the BF-2 (200L) and Jumbo (680L).
How often should I replace it?
No fixed interval is published by the manufacturer. Replace it once it stops springing back after a squeeze, has torn, or stays compacted and slows flow even after rinsing.
Can I rinse and reuse it?
Yes. Squeeze it out gently in a bucket of tank water during a water change, rather than under tap water, which can kill the beneficial bacteria living in the foam.
Will this fit my Baby, BF-1, BF-2 or Jumbo filter?
No. Each size in the range uses a differently sized foam sleeve, and this listing is the BF-4 size only.
