Eco Tech Desert Fern 20cm
Soft, natural-looking foliage for an arid-themed terrarium. The Eco Tech Desert Fern stands 20 cm tall and is designed as terrarium decor, adding cover and visual interest to a desert or dry-set enclosure without the care a live plant needs.
Key features
- 20 cm ornament – tall enough to break up a bare enclosure wall or corner
- Designed for reptile enclosures – sold and used as terrarium decor rather than a general household ornament
- Adds visual cover – foliage gives a nervous reptile somewhere to feel less exposed, alongside a proper hide
- No watering, light or soil needed – an artificial plant, not a live one

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to arid and desert-themed reptile terrariums as a decorative accent alongside a proper hide, basking area, and heat and UVB setup. It is not a substitute for a hide – most reptiles want an enclosed space to retreat into, which foliage alone doesn't provide. Not intended for humid or bioactive setups built around live planting.
Common questions
Is this a live fern?
No – it's an artificial ornament made to look like desert foliage, with none of the watering or lighting a real plant would need.
Does it have a weighted base?
We don't have manufacturer data confirming a weighted or free-standing base for this item, so check the product photos or ask us before assuming it will stand unsupported in loose substrate.
Will it help my reptile feel secure?
Foliage cover can reduce a skittish reptile's sense of exposure, but it works best alongside – not instead of – a proper hide.
