Eco Tech Twin Mangrove

A twin-trunk root sculpture built for swim-throughs and hides. The Eco Tech Twin Mangrove is a moulded, twin-trunk root structure with tangled root gaps that work as swim-throughs in an aquarium or climbing routes and shaded retreats in a terrarium. It's sold in two footprints – 36 × 22 × 43 cm and 52.5 × 26 × 54 cm – so it can anchor a nano setup or a display-sized enclosure.

Key features
  • Twin-trunk root form – two interlocking trunks create swim-throughs, hides and climbing routes rather than a flat backdrop.
  • Cast, inert construction – moulded synthetic material, so there's no waterlogging, tannin staining or breakdown the way real driftwood eventually shows.
  • Detailed bark and root texture – moulded surface reads as real wood grain from normal viewing distance.
  • Two sizes – 36 × 22 × 43 cm and 52.5 × 26 × 54 cm, so the same design scales from a smaller tank to a display-sized enclosure.
  • Dual use – safe to submerge in an aquarium or run dry in a terrarium.
Specifications
Size Footprint (L × D × H) SKU Use
Standard 36 × 22 × 43 cm ECT159 Aquarium or terrarium
Large 52.5 × 26 × 54 cm ECT160 Aquarium or terrarium
Which size do I need?

The 36 × 22 × 43 cm size suits smaller to mid-size tanks and enclosures where you still want clearance around the piece. The 52.5 × 26 × 54 cm size is a display-scale centrepiece – check it against your tank or enclosure's internal footprint and door clearance before ordering, since neither size is adjustable or trimmable.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
  • Suitable for freshwater and marine aquariums, and for reptile and amphibian terrariums, as a hide, swim-through or climbing feature.
  • Not a substitute for real driftwood if you specifically want tannin release for a blackwater-style setup – this piece is inert and won't tint the water.
  • Not designed to be cut or reshaped; buy the size that fits rather than trimming it.
Care and maintenance

Rinse before first use to clear any dust from moulding and packing. In an aquarium, position it before adding substrate so fish can't undermine it and it can't tip. Being inert, it doesn't need curing, soaking or the ongoing tannin management real wood does – wipe or rinse it during normal tank or enclosure maintenance.

Goes well with
  • Eco Tech Corkscrew Vine 40cm – adds climbing structure through and around the root gaps.
  • Eco Tech Multiple Vines w/Moss Lichen 60cm – softens the piece with trailing greenery for a terrarium build.
  • EcoTech Analog Hygrometer Thermometer – useful once the piece is in place, to confirm the enclosure is holding the humidity and temperature you're aiming for.
Warranty and delivery

Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law in addition to any manufacturer terms. Ships as a standard parcel – no special freight handling is required for either size.

Common questions

Is it safe to submerge permanently in an aquarium?

Yes – it's a moulded, inert decoration designed for both wet and dry use, so it can stay fully submerged.

Will it leach tannins or discolour the water like real driftwood?

No. Because it's a cast material rather than real wood, it won't release tannins or need the soaking and curing real driftwood does.

Can I use the same piece in a terrarium instead of an aquarium?

Yes – it's built for both. In a terrarium it works as a climbing and hide feature rather than a swim-through.

Do the two sizes look the same, just scaled up?

Yes – both are the same twin-trunk root design; the 52.5 × 26 × 54 cm size is a larger-scale version rather than a different sculpt.
