Exo Terra Rept-O-Meter Thermometer
Read terrarium temperature at a glance, no batteries. The Exo Terra Rept-O-Meter Thermometer is a stick-on analogue dial that mounts inside a terrarium or vivarium and shows ambient temperature at a glance – a simple, dependable way to confirm your reptile's warm and cool zones are holding where you expect.
Key features
- No batteries, ever – a purely mechanical dial with nothing to charge or replace.
- Stick-on mounting – an adhesive back presses onto clean, dry glass or PVC, no drilling or brackets.
- Reads at a glance – a clear analogue needle is easy to check from outside the enclosure.
- Pairs with the matching Hygrometer – mount both together to track temperature and humidity in the same zone.
- Compact – small enough to sit without crowding decor or a basking area.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: quick daily checks that a hot end and cool end are holding roughly where you set them.
- Not suitable for: precise basking-surface readings – the dial reads ambient air near its mounting point, not the surface directly under a heat source. Use an infrared or probe thermometer for that.
Care and maintenance
Mount clear of direct contact with heat bulbs or ceramic emitters. For a fuller picture, Exo Terra recommends one unit in the warm end and one in the cool end rather than a single central reading.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the Exo Terra manufacturer warranty against faults, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Ships by standard parcel delivery.
Goes well with
- Exo Terra Rept-O-Meter Hygrometer – mount alongside it to read humidity and temperature in the same spot.
Common questions
Does it measure basking surface temperature?
No – it reads the ambient air temperature near where it's mounted, not the surface directly under a heat lamp. Use an infrared or probe thermometer positioned at the basking surface for that number.
Where should I mount it?
Centrally for a single unit; for two units, one in the warm end and one in the cool end, away from direct exposure to an incandescent bulb.
Does it need calibration?
No – it's a mechanical dial with nothing to charge, replace or calibrate.
Does this control my heat source like a thermostat?
No. This is a reading-only dial. Your heat source should always be run through a proper reptile thermostat with its own sensor – use this dial to sanity-check what the thermostat is doing, not to control the heat.
