Fluval Aquaclear 300/70 Fluval C3/AC70 Impeller Assembly

Restore full flow to an AquaClear 70/300 or Fluval C3 filter that's gone quiet, slow or noisy. This is the genuine replacement impeller assembly – the small magnetic rotor that actually pumps the water – for the AquaClear 70, AquaClear 300 and Fluval C3 hang-on-back power filters, and the AC70.

Key features
  • Genuine Fluval part A636 – fits without modification.
  • Fixes the most common failure point – impellers wear or crack well before the filter's motor housing does.
  • One part, four filters – the AquaClear 70, AquaClear 300, Fluval C3 and AC70 all share this same impeller assembly.

Fits models AquaClear 70, AquaClear 300, Fluval C3, AC70

Will it fit my filter?

Check the model printed on your filter housing or the box it came in. This impeller assembly fits the AquaClear 70, AquaClear 300, Fluval C3 and AC70 – it does not fit the smaller AquaClear 20, 30, 50 or 110, which each use their own impeller size.

Common questions

How do I know if my impeller needs replacing?

Reduced or stopped water flow, a grinding or rattling noise from the filter housing, or the filter failing to prime after cleaning are the usual signs. Impellers wear from mineral build-up and everyday use well before the filter motor itself fails.

Does the AquaClear 300 use a different impeller to the AquaClear 70?

No – the 70 (US sizing) and 300 (litres-per-hour sizing) are the same filter under two names, and they share this impeller with the Fluval C3 and AC70.

Do I need any tools to fit it?

No. Open the filter's impeller cover, lift out the old assembly and press the new one into place.

Is this a genuine Fluval part?

Yes – part number A636, made by Fluval/Hagen for this filter range.
