Fluval Aquaclear AC20 Filter Media Maintenance Kit
A complete three-stage media refresh for the AquaClear AC20, sized to drop straight into the basket. This kit (Fluval part 19690) bundles one Bio-Foam filter pad, one BIOMAX ceramic media insert and two activated carbon inserts – mechanical, biological and chemical filtration in one box, made specifically for the AC20 power filter.

Will it fit my filter?
Made specifically for the Fluval AquaClear AC20 power filter (rated 18–76 L / 5–20 US gal). It's not interchangeable with the AC30, AC50, AC70 or AC110 kits, which use larger media sized for those filters.

Care and maintenance
Fluval's AC series manual recommends checking and rinsing the Bio-Foam monthly, with a full replacement around every 3 months. Activated carbon is a consumable that exhausts as it works, so Fluval's guidance is to replace the carbon insert every 3 months as well. BIOMAX is long-life biological media – rinse it gently in tank water at water changes rather than replacing it on the same cycle.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for routine servicing of an AC20 already set up with genuine Fluval media. Not suitable for larger AquaClear models – check your filter's model number before ordering, as the media baskets are not the same size across the AC range.

Common questions
How often should I replace this kit?
Fluval's guidance is roughly every 3 months for the Bio-Foam and carbon. BIOMAX can stay in longer and just needs a rinse at water changes.
Will this fit my AC30?
No. The AC30 takes its own kit (part 19691), sized for its larger media basket.
Can I replace just the carbon and leave the rest?
Yes – the three media types don't need to be replaced together, and keeping the Bio-Foam and BIOMAX in place longer helps preserve established bacteria.
