This kit is sized for the Fluval AquaClear 70 (AC70) power filter only – it is not interchangeable with the AC20, AC30, AC50 or AC110 media baskets, which use different-sized inserts. It also fits the older Hagen-branded AquaClear 70, previously sold as the AquaClear 300, since Fluval's AC-series media carries over across that generation change.

Sold as the combined kit, Fluval item 19693. The same media is also available individually: foam insert 3-pack (Fluval A1396F), activated carbon insert, 139 g (Fluval A617F), and BioMax insert, 195 g (Fluval A1373F) – useful if you only need to replace one stage rather than the full set.

Rinse or replace the foam insert monthly. Replace the carbon inserts roughly every three months, since exhausted carbon stops adsorbing. Rinse the BioMax every two months in tank water (never tap water) and replace it roughly every three months – this kit gives you a full replacement set for that cycle in one order.

Will this kit fit my Hagen AquaClear 70?

Yes. Fluval confirms current AC-series media is cross-compatible with the previous-generation Hagen AquaClear 70, which was originally sold as the AquaClear 300.

Can I use this on an AquaClear 50 or 110 instead?

No – the inserts are sized for the AC70 basket specifically. The AC50 and AC110 each take their own differently-sized media, listed on their own product pages.

Do I need to replace all three media types at once?

No. This kit gives you a full set, but the foam, carbon and BioMax wear on different schedules – see the maintenance section above for suggested intervals.
