Fluval Bug Bites Goldfish Flakes
A fibre-enriched insect-based flake built for coldwater digestion, not just colour. Fluval Bug Bites Goldfish Flakes lead with black soldier fly larvae and add whole peas, apple pomace and lignocellulose for the extra fibre coldwater fish need, across pack sizes from an 18 g trial pouch to a 180 g household size.
Key features
- Black soldier fly larvae base – insect protein ahead of grain fillers on the ingredient list.
- 33% crude protein – moderated for goldfish, which need less protein and more fibre than tropical carnivores.
- Fibre-enriched recipe – whole peas, apple pomace and lignocellulose support digestion, a common trouble spot for goldfish on high-protein diets.
- Marigold extract and haematococcus algae meal – natural support for goldfish's characteristic yellow, orange and red colouring.
- No artificial fillers or preservatives – preserved with mixed tocopherols and rosemary extract.

Feeding directions
Feed as much as fish will clear in two minutes, two to three times daily. Goldfish are enthusiastic eaters that will beg past the point of full – stick to the two-minute rule rather than the fish's apparent appetite.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for goldfish and other coldwater freshwater species. Not formulated for tropical or marine fish, whose protein and temperature needs differ from a coldwater goldfish diet.
Goes well with
Fluval Bug Bites Goldfish Pellets or Granules for variety, and a gravel vacuum on a more frequent cycle – goldfish are heavy waste producers regardless of diet.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the manufacturer's freshness guarantee in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Best used within 6 months of opening; store sealed in a cool, dry place.
Common questions
Will this help with swim bladder problems?
The added fibre from peas, apple pomace and lignocellulose supports normal digestion, which is a common contributor to swim bladder trouble in goldfish – but it isn't a treatment, and persistent swim bladder issues are worth discussing with an aquatic vet.
Can I feed this to tropical fish in the same tank?
It's formulated for goldfish; tropical tankmates are better served by a tropical flake or granule with a protein level suited to warmer water and faster metabolisms.
How much should I feed?
What your goldfish clear in about two minutes, two or three times a day – goldfish will keep begging after that, but overfeeding is the more common problem than underfeeding.
Which pack size should I choose?
The 18 g pouch suits a single bowl or small tank; 45 g, 90 g and 180 g cost less per gram for larger goldfish collections, provided the pack is used within six months of opening.
