Genuine Fluval carbon foam pads for FX series canister filters. Fluval part A249 is a 2 pack of foam pads infused with activated carbon. The foam traps small particles and debris (mechanical filtration), while the carbon helps remove odours, discolouration, heavy metals and organic contaminants from the water (chemical filtration).

Suitable for FX2, FX4, FX5 and FX6 owners who want clearer, fresher smelling water. Carbon does not remove ammonia; that is the job of Fluval's separate ammonia remover pad. Run it alongside your mechanical and biological media, not instead of them.
Care
Fluval's FX manual lists the carbon pad as a part to replace, not one to clean and reuse, because activated carbon gets used up over time.
