Fluval Premium Betta Kit

Everything a betta needs, sized for a desk or a benchtop. The Fluval Premium Betta Kit is an all-in-one aquarium built around what long-finned, slow-water fish actually need: a low-flow filter that won't batter their fins, integrated lighting that shows off their colour, and a fully sealed, pre-set heater so there's no separate thermostat to buy. It comes in two sizes – 10 L and 20 L – both fully self-contained aquariums with cover, filtration, lighting and heating included.

Key features
  • Low-flow, multi-stage filtration – a foam block, carbon insert and BIOMAX biological media, run through a diffusion chamber that softens outflow for betta-safe flow.
  • Integrated, pre-set heater – 10 W on the 10 L kit, 25 W on the 20 L kit, both fixed to roughly 26°C. Nothing to dial in.
  • Soft-glow LED lighting – built into the hood, tuned to bring out betta colour without the glare of a full planted-tank fixture.
  • All-glass tank and cover – a genuine aquarium, not an acrylic bowl, with a fitted lid to stop jumpers escaping.
  • Two sizes, one system – 10 L for a single betta on a desk, 20 L where you want room for a heavier planted layout.

Which size do I need?

The 10 L suits a single betta in a compact desk setup with minimal room for planting. The 20 L gives enough footprint for a proper planted layout, more swimming room, and – because it holds more water – a more stable temperature between water changes. Both run on the same low-flow filtration approach; the 20 L simply scales it up.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
  • Suitable for a single betta, or a very lightly stocked nano freshwater community that tolerates low flow.
  • Not suitable for species that need strong current, cooler water, or a heavily stocked bioload – the filtration is deliberately gentle and sized to the tank.
  • Not suitable as a fry-rearing or breeding setup without extra sponge filtration over the intake – the standard intake can draw in very small fry.
Care and maintenance

Replace the carbon and biological media on the manufacturer's schedule (roughly every 2–4 weeks for the chemical media) to keep water quality stable – see the matching replacement cartridge for the 20 L kit. Top up water lost to evaporation between water changes; in a tank this size, evaporation shifts the effective heater output more than it would in a larger volume.

Safety

The heater is fixed to roughly 26°C with no external dial – check this suits your livestock before buying rather than after. Keep the light's power supply clear of splash areas per the enclosed instructions.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Fluval's manufacturer warranty against defects, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. As a glass aquarium, this ships with extra packaging care – allow a little longer for delivery than a small accessory.

Common questions

Does the Betta Kit come with a heater?

Yes – both sizes have a heater built into the filtration unit, pre-set to roughly 26°C. You don't need to buy one separately.

Is the flow gentle enough for a betta's fins?

Yes, that's the point of the diffusion chamber – it's designed specifically for long-finned, slow-water fish.

What substrate and decorations do I need?

Substrate and decor aren't included, so plan for these separately – check your chosen pieces fit inside the tank's internal footprint before buying.

Can I fit a different filter later?

The kit is designed as a matched system around its own filtration; there's no dedicated slot for a different canister or hang-on filter.
