Fluval Replace Half Media Basket for FX4/5/6
A genuine replacement half-size media basket for the Fluval FX4, FX5 and FX6 canister filters. This half basket slots into the same tray position as a full-size basket, letting you run two different media types side by side in one level – mechanical and biological in the same tray, for example – instead of dedicating a full basket to a single media type.
Key features
- Direct fit – genuine replacement basket for the FX4, FX5 and FX6 canister filter range.
- Half-size format – pairs with another half basket or sits alongside a full basket to mix media types in one tray level.
- Restores proper media support – replaces a cracked, warped or missing basket that lets media settle unevenly and disrupts flow.

Will it fit my filter?
This basket is sized for the Fluval FX4, FX5 and FX6 canister filters and uses the same tray-and-lock fitting as the standard full-size FX media basket. It is not interchangeable with the smaller Fluval 06/07-series canister filters, which use their own basket system.
What's included
- One half-size media basket.
Media (foam, ceramic rings or other filter media) is not included – this is a replacement basket only, for use with media you already own or purchase separately.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for FX4, FX5 and FX6 owners replacing a damaged basket, or wanting to run two media types in one tray level.
- Not suitable for the Fluval 06/07-series or other canister ranges.
Care and maintenance
Rinse in aquarium water at each filter service. Check the basket's clips and seating point each time it's removed – a cracked clip is the usual cause of a basket that no longer sits flush.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Fluval's standard replacement warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel shipping.
Common questions
Can I use two half baskets instead of one full basket?
Yes – that's the main reason to choose a half basket, so you can run two media types side by side in the same tray level rather than one media type filling the whole level.
Does this fit the Fluval FX2?
Fluval's own compatibility listings vary on this point across regions; if you have an FX2, check your filter's model plate against the basket before ordering, or contact us to confirm.
Is media included?
No. This is a replacement basket only – add your own foam, ceramic rings or other media.
