Genuine stage-1 mechanical filter foam for the Sea Evo 52L and Spec 60L filter chambers. This is the foam filter block insert that traps particulate and debris as the first stage of the Fluval Sea Evo 52L and Spec 60L kits' built-in three-stage filtration, cross-referenced to Fluval part #10532.
Mechanical foam clogs long before biological or chemical media need changing, and a clogged block chokes flow through the whole filter chamber – rinsing or replacing it regularly is the single easiest way to keep an all-in-one nano kit's filtration working as designed.

Will it fit my kit?
Fits the Fluval Sea Evo 52L Nano Kit (SEA49) and the Fluval Spec 60L aquarium – both kits share the same filter chamber and foam block. It is not the correct foam for the smaller Spec II, Spec III, Spec V or Evo 5 (19 L) kits, which use a smaller insert.

Care and maintenance
Rinse in tank water, never tap water – chlorine and chloramine kill the biological colony living on and around the foam – every one to two weeks, or when flow visibly drops. Replace the block once it stops recovering its shape after rinsing or starts breaking apart.

Suitable as a routine or replacement mechanical media for the Evo 52L and Spec 60L filter chamber. Not a biological or chemical media substitute – pair it with a BIOMAX insert and activated carbon for complete three-stage filtration.

Common questions
How often should I replace the foam block, rather than just rinse it?
Rinsing restores flow in the short term, but foam degrades with repeated compression – once it stays flattened or starts shedding pieces after a rinse, replace it rather than keep reusing it.
Can I cut this foam down to fit a smaller Fluval kit?
It's sized for the Evo 52L / Spec 60L chamber specifically – for a Spec II, III, V or Evo 5, order the correctly sized foam block for that kit rather than trimming this one, since a poor fit lets water bypass the media.
Will rinsing it in tap water harm my tank?
Not the tank directly, but chlorinated tap water kills the beneficial bacteria colonising the foam, effectively resetting part of your biological filtration. Use removed tank water instead.
