Insects in a Pellet 125g

One freeze-dried insect pellet feeds fish, turtles and insect-eating reptiles from the same bag. Minibeasts Insects in a Pellet is a 125 g pack of dry pellets built on freeze-dried crickets, mealworms, woodies (a feeder cockroach) and king mealworms, with soybean, spirulina and wheat making up the rest of the base. It's listed here as a fish and turtle food, and the identical formula is sold elsewhere by Minibeasts under bearded dragon and blue-tongue branding – so it suits a broad range of omnivorous and insectivorous animals rather than one species alone.

Key features
  • Freeze-dried insect base – crickets, mealworms, woodies and king mealworms sit at the top of the ingredient list, ahead of the plant-based fillers.
  • Spirulina included – the same natural colour-support ingredient used in most premium fish and reptile diets.
  • Shelf-stable pellet form – the same insect protein base as a live-food diet, without a culture to maintain or anything that can escape.
  • Single 125 g pack – sized for regular top-ups rather than bulk feeding.
  • One formula, several species – sold as a fish and turtle pellet here, and separately by Minibeasts as a bearded dragon and blue-tongue diet.

Ingredients

Freeze Dried Insects (Crickets, Mealworms, Woodies and King Mealworms), Soybean, Spirulina, Wheat, Vitamins, Minerals, Amino Acids and Antioxidants.

Minibeasts hasn't published a guaranteed analysis – crude protein, crude fat, crude fibre, moisture and ash – for this pellet through any distributor or retailer listing we could check, and it isn't printed on the pack description available to us. If you need confirmed figures for a specific feeding regime, contact us and we'll follow it up with the supplier rather than guess.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for omnivorous and insectivorous freshwater and marine fish, aquatic and semi-aquatic turtles, and – based on the identical formula sold under Minibeasts' reptile range – insectivorous reptiles such as bearded dragons and blue-tongue skinks.

Not suitable as a sole diet for strict herbivores, and not a substitute for gut-loaded live insects where a keeper is specifically managing live-food nutrition.

Feeding directions

Offer a small amount your animals will clear within a few minutes, and remove anything left over so it doesn't foul the water or substrate. For reptile feeding, Minibeasts suggests offering the pellet on alternate days to live insects, mixed with fresh fruit and vegetables if desired – the pellet can also be softened in water first. Fresh water should always be available.

Care and storage

Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and reseal the pack tightly after opening to keep the pellet fresh.

Warranty and delivery

Sold with the consumer guarantees that apply under Australian Consumer Law. This is a shelf-stable dry product with no cold-chain requirement, shipped with standard freight.

Common questions

Is this a live insect product?

No. It's a dry, freeze-dried insect pellet – there's no culture to maintain and nothing arrives alive.

Can I feed it to both fish and reptiles?

Yes. The same base formula is sold by Minibeasts as a fish and turtle pellet and, separately, under bearded dragon and blue-tongue branding, so it suits both aquatic and terrestrial insect-eaters.

Does it float or sink?

The manufacturer hasn't published this, so check how the pellet behaves in your own tank the first time you use it if that matters for your setup.

What's the guaranteed analysis?

Minibeasts doesn't publish crude protein, fat, fibre, moisture or ash figures for this product through any source we could verify. Get in touch if you need confirmed numbers before use.

Can I mix it with fresh food?

Yes – for reptile feeding, Minibeasts recommends offering it alongside fresh fruit and vegetables, and softening the pellet in water first if preferred.
