Seachem Tidal Replacement Impeller

The cheapest fix for a Tidal that rattles or has gone sluggish. The Seachem Tidal Replacement Impeller is the genuine spinning core of the filter's pump, and it is the one part in a Tidal that Seachem expects you to replace - which is why it sits outside the three-year filter warranty. It is stocked here in all four sizes, covering the Tidal 35, 55, 75 and 110. Pick the variant that matches the number on the front of your filter.

Which impeller do I need?

Impellers are sized to their filter model and are not interchangeable across the range.

Variant Fits Flow it restores
35 Seachem Tidal 35 500 L/h
55 Seachem Tidal 55 1000 L/h
75 Seachem Tidal 75 1500 L/h
110 Seachem Tidal 110 2000 L/h

All four are corrosion-resistant and rated by Seachem for freshwater and marine aquariums.

Key features
  • Self-cleaning design - shrugs off most of the grit and slime that stalls a conventional impeller
  • Genuine Seachem part - matched to the Sicce pump the filter was built around, so magnet and shaft tolerances are right
  • No tools needed - the impeller cover unclips and the impeller lifts straight out
  • Cheap insurance - the only consumable in the filter, and worth keeping a spare of on a heavily stocked tank
Is the impeller my problem?

A worn impeller has a recognisable set of symptoms. If your filter shows these, this is the part to buy.

  • Rattling or grinding that does not settle after the filter has been cleaned
  • Flow well below rated with clean media and a clear intake
  • Struggling to restart after a water change, then running normally once it catches
  • Vibration through the tank rim that was not there when the filter was new

If the filter hums but moves no water at all with a clean impeller well, the fault is more likely the motor - the Seachem Tidal Replacement Pump covers that.

Fitting it
  • Switch off at the wall and lift the pump out of the water
  • On the Tidal 55 and 75, pull up and back on the top clip of the impeller cover to release it
  • Lift the old impeller out, then rinse the chamber clear of grit and scale before fitting the new one
  • Seat the new impeller, clip the cover back on and switch on - the filter re-primes itself
  • Check the shaft for scoring while you are in there; a rough shaft will chew through a new impeller
Goes well with
  • Seachem Tidal Replacement Pump - the complete motor unit, for when the impeller is not the fault
  • Seachem Matrix - top the basket back up while the filter is open
Warranty and delivery

The impeller is classed by Seachem as a wear item and sits outside the three-year warranty on the filter itself. That exclusion does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded and apply to this part as to any other. Ships as a standard parcel.

Common questions

Which Seachem Tidal filters does this impeller fit?

The four variants on this page cover the entire Tidal range - 35, 55, 75 and 110 - with one impeller sized to each model. They are not interchangeable, so order the variant matching your filter.

How often should a Tidal impeller be replaced?

Seachem does not publish a fixed interval. Replace it on symptoms rather than on a schedule - rattling, vibration or flow loss that survives a proper clean.

Why is the impeller not covered by the warranty?

Because it is designed to be consumed. Seachem covers the Tidal filter for three years but excludes the impeller as a wear part, much as a car warranty excludes brake pads.

Do I need the impeller or the whole pump?

Rattling with water still moving means the impeller. Humming with no water moving, after the well has been cleaned, means the pump.
