Suitable for pet birds kept indoors, with the lamp mounted directly over the perch. Not a reptile lamp, and not a heat source.

Run it 10 to 12 hours a day as a normal day and night cycle. UVB output fades over time even while the lamp still lights, so replace it after 12 months. Write the start date on the lamp base so you know when it is due.

Never place the lamp closer to your bird than the distances above, as eye damage may occur, and do not mount it on the side of the cage where the bird can stare into it. Unplug before changing the lamp. The lamp contains mercury, so take it to a lamp or fluorescent recycling drop-off rather than the household bin.
