Zoo Med Creatures Cholla Branch
Natural cholla wood climbing decor that glows once the lights go out. The Zoo Med Creatures Cholla Branch is a genuine cholla cactus skeleton – the naturally lattice-patterned, hollow wood used across invertebrate and small-reptile keeping – finished with a glow-in-the-dark effect so it stays a visible, usable perch after dark. Its hollow core doubles as a hide, and the lattice surface gives secure climbing grip.
Key features
- Genuine natural cholla wood – a real cactus skeleton, not a moulded imitation.
- Glow-in-the-dark finish – charges under normal terrarium lighting and glows once lights are off.
- Hollow, lattice structure – the tunnel-like centre works as a hide, and the open lattice gives climbing purchase for inverts and small reptiles.
- Washable – can be rinsed clean and reused rather than replaced.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for terrariums housing invertebrates (including tarantulas, isopods and other Creatures-line pets), hermit crabs and small reptiles that benefit from climbing structure and cover.
- Also popular as aquascaping wood in shrimp and small fish aquariums – rinse before use, and expect it to float for a few days until fully waterlogged.
- Not intended as a food source – it is a climbing and hiding structure, not an edible chew.
Care and maintenance
Rinse before first use. Wash periodically to clear substrate, debris or biofilm build-up; the branch is designed to be washable and reused rather than discarded.
Goes well with
- A hollow hide or cork bark round to give ground-dwelling species an additional retreat.
- Leaf litter substrate topper for a more naturalistic invertebrate floor.
- A humidity and thermometer gauge to keep the enclosure in range for the species housed with it.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Zoo Med's standard product warranty against manufacturing defects. Ships as a standard parcel item.
Common questions
Does the glow effect fade over time?
Zoo Med does not publish a glow lifespan for this piece; like most glow-in-the-dark finishes, brightness depends on how much light it has recently absorbed rather than lasting indefinitely in full darkness.
Is it safe for aquarium use?
Yes – it's commonly used as aquascaping wood in shrimp and small fish tanks. Rinse it first, and expect some tannin release and a period of floating until it becomes waterlogged.
Will my tarantula or isopods chew through it?
It is a genuine woody cactus skeleton intended for climbing and cover rather than as a food or chew item, though natural wear from a busy enclosure over time is normal.
What size will I receive?
Zoo Med does not publish fixed dimensions for this natural product – each branch is a unique piece of cactus skeleton, so size and shape vary from the photo shown.
