Zoo Med Lace Fern
An artificial fern that adds cover without the upkeep of a live plant. The Zoo Med Lace Fern is part of Zoo Med's Naturalistic Flora range – a realistic artificial terrarium plant on a root-stake base, built to add jungle texture, hiding spots and privacy to a reptile or amphibian enclosure without the light, humidity or feeding a live plant needs.
Key features
- Water-resistant foliage – the leaves are built to take misting or a fogger without deteriorating, and can be wiped clean.
- Root-stake anchor – pushes into substrate for a stable, natural-looking hold rather than sitting loose.
- Adds cover and privacy – gives a shy animal somewhere to retreat from view, which live plants often can't survive being used for.
- Encourages natural drinking behaviour – water droplets collect on the leaves after misting, which some species will drink from in preference to a still water bowl.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: terrariums, vivariums and paludariums for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates that benefit from visual cover and planted-look décor.

Common questions
Will misting damage this plant?
No – the foliage is water-resistant and is designed to hold droplets after misting, which is part of the point: some animals will drink from the leaves.
Does it come with a full size chart?
Zoo Med's own product page doesn't publish exact dimensions for this piece; the approximate size above comes from retailer measurements rather than the manufacturer, so treat it as a guide rather than an exact figure.
How do I anchor it in a bioactive setup?
Push the root-stake base into the substrate. In a deep bioactive layer it should hold without extra support; in shallow substrate you may want to anchor it against décor or the enclosure wall.
