Zoo Med Turtle Dock
A dry basking platform that rises and falls with the water. The Zoo Med Turtle Dock is a floating basking platform for aquatic turtles, held to the glass by suction cups while the platform itself floats freely – self-levelling with the water so there's always a dry deck, even as the level drops between top-ups. It comes in three sizes: Small (ZM204), Medium (ZM205) and Large (ZM206).
Key features
- Self-levelling float – automatically adjusts to any water level, so the basking spot never ends up underwater or stranded high and dry.
- Submerged entry ramp – lets turtles climb out easily for full exposure to a basking lamp and UVB light positioned above.
- Suction cup mounting – holds the dock against the glass; replacement suction cups are sold separately (SKU ZM228).
- Frees up swimming space compared with stacking rocks into a basking pile.
- 6-month manufacturer warranty.

| Size | SKU | Barcode |
|---|---|---|
| Small | ZM204 | 097612660104 |

Zoo Med doesn't publish exact platform dimensions or a maximum turtle weight for this size range. See "Which size do I need?" below for general sizing guidance instead.
Which size do I need?
| Size | Good starting point for |
|---|---|
| Small | Hatchling to juvenile turtles, or a tank with limited clear glass space |
| Medium | Adult turtles of small-to-medium species, such as musk turtles or young sliders |
| Large | Larger adult turtles, or multiple turtles sharing one dock |
As a rule of thumb, the platform should be at least as long as your turtle's shell so it can fully climb clear of the water – if in doubt, size up.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Aquatic and semi-aquatic turtles that need a dry basking spot under a heat lamp and UVB light
- Newts, frogs and other semi-aquatic species that also benefit from a floating dry area
- Not suitable for tanks without enough clear glass to anchor four suction cups securely
- Not a substitute for a properly positioned basking lamp and UVB tube – the dock provides the dry surface, not the heat or UV
Care and maintenance
Clean with warm tap water and a soft brush to remove algae. If the suction cups lose their grip over time, soak them in hot water with a little white vinegar to revive them, or fit a new set of replacement suction cups (ZM228).
Warranty and delivery
Zoo Med backs the Turtle Dock with a 6-month manufacturer warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a standard parcel item.
Common questions
Will the dock float away if the water level drops a lot?
No – the self-levelling design is built for exactly that. As long as the suction cups stay attached to the glass, the platform rides down with the water.
Can I fit a heat lamp and UVB light above it?
Yes – that's the intended setup. Position both above the dry end of the platform so your turtle gets full exposure while basking.
My suction cups won't stick anymore – do I need a whole new dock?
Not necessarily. Clean the glass and the cups, wet them before pressing on, or fit a new set of replacement suction cups (ZM228) – the wear item on the dock is almost always the cups, not the float itself.
Can more than one turtle use the same dock?
Yes, if the platform is large enough for both to climb out comfortably – go with the Large size if you're keeping more than one turtle in the same tank.
